Frequently Asked Questions [FAQs]

When is worship?

Worship is at 10:00 AM every Sunday morning throughout the year. FMI

How do I find you?

We are at 132 Auburn Street. See our DIRECTIONS page for a map and link to custom directions. When you arrive, you will find ample onsite parking along the north and west sides of the church building. A front entrance to the worship sanctuary faces Auburn Street, with a second entrance near the back of the building in the main parking area. When entering at the parking lot entrance, take a left just inside the doors. Follow the short hall down until you find the sanctuary entrance on the right. Oh… and there is no assigned seating, so pick any spot where you feel comfortable. And feel free to introduce yourself to those nearby.

What should I expect during the worship service?

We sing. We pray. We “share the peace”*, which means we get up from our seats to greet each other with a warm handshake and a greeting. We listen to Scripture readings and a sermon that is usually about 10-15 minutes long. And we commune, sharing the Body and Blood of our Savior in the form of bread and wine [or grape juice, if you prefer!]. Of course, no one is required to do any of these things, but most folks find that participation results in a more fulfilling experience.

What’s available for young people?

For children in preschool through fifth grade (ages 3-11), we offer Sunday School classes at 9:00 AM throughout the academic year. Children in sixth grade and above can participate in a two-year long Confirmation class, which takes an annual retreat to Camp Calumet, volunteers at the soup kitchen, goes bowling, goes hiking, and generally has a lot of fun! Camp Scholarships ~ we call them “Camperships” ~ are available to help children attend Camp Calumet and/or First Lutheran Day Camp each summer. On Mothers’ Day each year, we host a phenomenal Youth Service, where the youth perform all the music, write and deliver the sermon, and put on a skit! This is just the tip of the iceberg for what we offer young people, so come and check it out!
