Sunday School

Curriculum

Each year in Sunday School, we use the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries curriculum from the preceding summer.

For the 2017-2018 school year, the curriculum theme is “Water is Life.” The theme verse is Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”

We will focus on the Living Water and how it unconditionally heals, accepts, and transforms all those who drink from it.

'Tis the Season

Christmas Pagaent

The Christmas Pageant takes place on the 3rd Sunday of Advent each year.

Our youngest students always play the animals and the angels, while our older students take on individual speaking roles. All the students sing the Christmas songs together throughout the performance, such as Away in a Manger , Hark the Herald Angels Sing , and Joy to the World .

We rehearse for this event for three Sundays, with the final rehearsal taking place on the same morning as the performance.

First Communion

Our fourth and fifth grade students go through First Communion classes each year during Lent.

At the end of this class, they enjoy their First Communion during the Maundy Thursday evening service.

A Mother's Day Tradition

Youth Service

Each year on Mothers’ Day, the youth at First Lutheran host the 9:15 service! They do everything that the adults normally do.

Our Sunday School students spend the three Sundays leading up to this event learning three fun and contemporary Christian songs. During the Youth Service, they perform these songs for the
congregation!

It’s a wonderful and beloved event for all who participate and all who attend!

Matthew 19:14

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
